Dog Too Ill To Sit Gets One Last Ride Through Town, Recovers Miraculously

Maverick was in a kill shelter with nothing but skin and bones when Joey Maxwell and his wife first encountered him. Mav joined their family after being adopted by them, and they were together for six joyful years.

So when the dog was given a lymphoma diagnosis a few years ago, Maxwell did everything in his power to support his dog friend in the fight against cancer, and the first round of chemotherapy was a success.

But the sickness came back two months ago, leaving him unable to move. Therefore, the dog’s owner made the decision to take him around. Making Mav’s final days as happy as possible at first seemed like a good idea. Still, it ended up having a remarkable impact on the dog’s health.

As Maxwell told CBS News, “If we take him out, he barks at everyone who passes until they pet him because he thinks the whole world is there only to love on him.”
And he could be correct.

Maxwell and his dog experience an amazing outpouring of love and support. Maxwell, for instance, got a 50% wagon discount after telling his story, and the Lowe’s cashier and both of them started to cry. Now, when someone in Maxwell’s little town sees Maverick, they recognize him and walk up to him to give the dog some affection.

Mav is a huge fan of those rides. The pooch may be getting stronger every day because of this.

We’re in a good position because we are aware of how much Mav means to so many other people right now, and we are aware that he has experienced every bit of that in return.
