A Man Devotes His Entire Life To Adopting Elderly Dogs Who Are Unable To Find Permanent Homes

Steve Greig’s beloved dog passed away months ago, yet he was still heartbroken. He made the decision to provide another rescue dog with a happy existence at that point. Nevertheless, not just any dog from a shelter.

He visited his neighborhood dog shelter in Denver, Colorado, to adopt the elderly dog who was “least adaptable,” as these animals are all too frequently ignored. Now that he has ten senior dog shelter rescues, Greig is a very busy human dad, and his 478k followers approve of the abundance of sweetness on Instagram.

He took in a 12-year-old Chihuahua with a heart condition and terrible knees. The man gave him the name Eeyore and showered him with care. He then began to have more than ten pets living in his home as a result.

Greig prepares food for his large family of ten adorable dogs every day at five in the morning. The majority of dogs eat a variety of foods.

His calendar is packed with visits to the vet, park strolls, and lots of affectionate cuddles. There are always at least three or four [dogs] attached whenever I sit or lie down in a dog-friendly area, Greig writes on Instagram.

According to Greig, “They’re just smarter animals.” As you become older, you start to have a better idea of what you want from life.

These elder dogs are self-aware, and it’s simple to establish a connection with someone or another animal who is also self-aware. It makes me feel good to know that these gorgeous animals are in happy, loving, and caring homes. It gives my days meaning.

Greig claimed that only 8 of the ten dogs are his in an interview with The Dodo. They are still very much a part of the group because his house is now regarded as an animal “daycare,” even if one belongs to his roommate and the other to his sister.

Greig also has two ducks, pigeons, cats, a few chickens, a pig named Bikini, and other animals. Although he currently has no further space for animals, he plans to adopt older dogs in the future. Love, after all, knows no bounds.

After his beloved dog passed away for months, Steve Greig continued to be sad.

“I made the decision that the only way I would feel better was if something positive happened that probably wouldn’t have happened if he had lived.”
